This is a space for people to find homes and connect through trust and community. We want everyone to feel safe, respected, and included.

Our Principles

  • Treat people with kindness and honesty.

  • Be clear and accurate about what you are offering or looking for.

  • Respect privacy and personal boundaries.

  • Inclusion matters.

  • Everyone should be able to use Drey without fear of discrimination. That includes people of all genders, races, religions, sexual orientations, and abilities.

  • Safety is essential.

  • Communicate responsibly, meet in public or well-lit spaces, and report anything that feels unsafe.

Equal Opportunities in Housing

Drey is committed to fairness and equal opportunity for all.We monitor listings and activity to help ensure compliance with UK housing and equality laws and to make sure our community remains open and welcoming.

If you’re a landlord or agent:

You must not treat anyone unfairly because of who they are. UK law protects people from discrimination based on:

  • Sex or gender

  • Race or ethnicity

  • Disability (including those who use mobility aids or assistance animals)

  • Religion or beliefs

  • Sexual orientation

  • Gender reassignment

  • Pregnancy or maternity

This means you can’t exclude someone, refuse an application, or write anything in an advert that would disadvantage them because of one of these protected characteristics.

If you live in the property you’re renting out:

If you’re advertising a room in your own home, the law allows some flexibility around personal preferences - but this must always be handled respectfully.

You can share the kind of living environment you’re hoping for, but it’s never okay to make statements that exclude or stereotype others.

For example:

It’s fine to describe your household (e.g. “We’re a vegetarian home and would love someone comfortable with that”), but not to say that others aren’t welcome.

If wording in an advert is unclear, unfair, or could make someone feel unwelcome, our team may edit or remove it.

Assistance Animals:

Assistance and guide dogs aren’t considered “pets” under UK law- they’re essential aids.

That means:

  • “No pets” rules don’t apply to people who rely on assistance animals.

  • Refusing someone for that reason is treated as disability discrimination.

Some smaller properties may be exempt from certain legal provisions, but Drey expects everyone to treat accessibility and inclusion as core community values.

How to stay safe and positive on Drey

  • Communicate respectfully and only through verified Drey channels.

  • Be honest and transparent about what you’re offering or looking for.

  • Don’t share anyone’s private details or post anything threatening, harmful, or illegal.

  • Avoid spam, scams, or unrelated promotions.

If something doesn't feel right

If you see behaviour or content that doesn’t align with these guidelines:

  1. Report it via email at hello@dreyshouse.com

  2. Our team will review reports carefully and take appropriate action. This might include removing listings, issuing warnings, or, in serious cases, suspending or banning accounts.

Together, we build the Drey community

These guidelines will grow as we do.

Our goal is simple: make Drey a place where people can find a home through people and communities they can trust.

Thank you for being part of a community that values fairness, empathy, and belonging.
